5 Minutes With… Matilda Rose
5 Minutes with…
Matilda Rose
A former student of our school the incredibly lovely Matilda, 24, has lent her hands to puppetering and helps run art workshops for kids. She's currently involved in transforming 'The Stables' at the White Lion into a community workshop & cultural space and if you were at our evening with Emma Craigie, you would have seen her incredible interior decorating talents. She is amazing!
You've been a busy girl since you left our school - what have you been up to?
Well after Steiner I moved on to Pimlico School which was pretty scary as I was one of 100+ in my year but I made some really good friends, kept my head down and finished my GCSE's. From then i decided to earn some money and got into retail then went to Southwark College in Bermondsey and got a National Diploma in Performing Arts. I have since been doing drama workshops with the Young Vic, working with events and for a charity Music4Children.
What are you most passionate about and why?
I love to dance, music just moves me. I am quite passionate about performance and would love to teach drama or dance and get people's natural creativity blossoming.
Tell us something about yourself that most people wouldn't know
I'm sure I tell everyone everything? I would love to get into burlesque, some choreography is very simple but extremely effective. Less is more and leaves something to the imagination.
What's your fondest memory from school?
Climbing trees and when the whole school from Class 1 and up would go on to the field and play red rover or rugby, twas wicked.
How has a 'Steiner' education shaped your life?
I would not have said this at 14yrs old but going to Steiner was the best school my parents could have sent me to. The ethos is magical and for social and life skills it is perfect.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Hopefully on an island somewhere warm living in a community that runs purely on natural resources, but if not that, then getting my ideas on the stage and in front of groups (big or small) of people and making them open up, talk to each other and smile.
What's your favorite season and why?
I love Autumn, the earthy colours and last of the sun, tis also the time of year everyone gets ready to hibernate and snuggle up in front of the fire x
The Stables Workshop launch weekend will be on Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th of February. Please contact Matilda, if you would like to have your own workshop or run an event. Her e-mail address is thestables-workshops@hotmail.co.uk
